	"d I s t a n c e" was the first solo release from Shawn Loescher and his trio. Recorded in 1998 the album is a tour de force, blurring the lines between Jazz and Classical counterpoint while being well steeped in improvisation. Critically acclaimed for its originality and listenability "d I s t a n c e" revels in its deep emotional structure. The re-release of the album had Jazziz Magazine hailing Loescher as a talent deserving wider recognition and stating, "Loescher takes the melodies apart like he’s diagramming sentences by Faulkner." Produced by Shawn Loescher and Henrich Lesko who intentionally recorded using vintage analogue equipment from the early 1960’s, the album has a warm classic feel reminiscent of the early Riverside recordings.
